St Andrew's Cathedral

Next door to the Garden, St Andrew’s Cathedral is opening once more to the public on April 11. Of particular note to Scots Italians will be the new baptismal font and altar which have been carved out of marble from the quarries in Carrara from which Michelangelo chose his marble to work on the Pietà. The Cathedral has been completely renewed and is magnificent in its new form. It is light and airy, 3000 books of gold leaf have been used on the ceiling, it has new seating, lighting, heating, flooring and decoration. It is, in short, well worth a visit!
